What was your most memorable moment?
Listening to black bear cubs call for their mother, who was fishing out spawning salmon below in Anan Creek. We won the lottery for the optional excursion to see the bears at the Anan Creek observatory. We witnessed over a dozen black bears plus one brown bear (Scuba Sue) all feasting on salmon. It was a truly remarkable and amazing experience. These two cubs were left up in trees by the observation platform while their mom was below ... who new their calls would sound like sheep?

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Farily standard stuff like we have found with other expedition cruise lines. Had to use the zodiacs to reach several of the village locations along the route, not just for the nature landings.
Tell us about the expedition team
BEST CITIZEN SCIENCE PROGRAM we have yet experienced on an expedition cruise. Loved everything about their team and got to know them all really well after many many wildlife deck watches together. Science boat excursions and subsequent microscope sessions to view the water samples were fascinating ... who knew there were such critters as Sea angels!!!
Tell us about the Roald Amundsen
Larger than we would have liked but the Captain was the best we have experienced in regards to ease of command and addressing the ship each day with routine navigation announcements. Hotel service staff were pretty good for the most part - we were just used to smaller ships with fewer passengers.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to The Arctic?
Go with a curious mind and you will immensely injoy yourselves. If you are just expecting a standard cruise ship experience than you will be incredibly bored.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
HX brings along cultural ambassadors for the NW Passage. Individuals who are from local Nunavut communities. We had neighboring cabins during the voyage so had the opportunity to get to know them on a more personal level. We found more things in common to discuss and share similar values, etc.
