Operator's Itinerary
Day 1: Flight from Keflavik & embarkation at Constable Pynt
After flying in by chartered plane from Reykjavík–Keflavík Airport in Iceland, you’ll land at Constable Pynt in eastern Greenland. This airstrip, nestled at the head of Hurry Inlet, is an area famed for its fascinating geological past.
Day 2: Cruising among glaciers
Begin sailing along the stunning, ice-covered Volquart Boons Coast. Weather permitting, you’ll hop into a Zodiac for your first close-up exploration – perhaps near Månegletcher or Vikingebugt – cruising past towering glacier fronts and soaking in the dramatic Arctic scenery.
Day 3: Traces of Inuit life
Today, journey along the eastern coast of Milne Land, weaving through a maze of towering icebergs. If conditions allow, you'll land at Charcot Havn for a walk to the nearby Charcot Glacier. From there, you'll continue past Bjørneør and head into the majestic Øfjord.
Days 4 to 7: Mountain-fringed fjord & colossal icebergs
You'll arrive at the east entrance of one of the planet’s most awe-inspiring fjords: Øfjord. Stretching nearly 40 nautical miles (74 km/46 miles), it’s flanked by mountains rising up to 2,000 m (6,562 ft), with immense icebergs drifting in waters over 1,000 m deep (3,281 ft).
The goal is to land at Jyttehavn for a tundra hike through these mythic landscapes. Depending on conditions, you may also explore Harefjord, Rypefjord, and Rödefjord, stepping ashore at C. Hoffmanhalvöya and Storö for further adventures.
Near Sydkap, you’ll witness gargantuan icebergs, some soaring over 100 m (328 ft) tall and stretching more than a kilometre long (0.62 miles). Most are grounded here, as the fjord shallows to around 400 m (1,312 ft).
At Sakatajik, visit the haunting remains of Thule winter dwellings – once home to up to 20 people who hunted Greenland whales and constructed shelters from their massive vertebrae.
If the skies stay clear, you might just be treated to the ethereal glow of the northern lights dancing overhead.
Day 8: Jameson Land's tundra
You'll head to the western shores of Jameson Land, where sweeping tundra plains are dotted with grazing musk oxen. If conditions allow, you'll aim to land at a site like Tyskit Nunat, an area tied to polar researcher Alfred Wegener’s legendary attempt to cross Vandreblokken.
There may also be opportunities to explore Kap Hooker or a tranquil lagoon tucked west of Kap Stewart.
Day 9: Life in Scoresby Sund
Today, you'll visit Ittoqqortoormiit, the largest settlement in the Scoresby Sund region, home to around 500 residents. Stop by the post office to pick up unique stamps or simply wander through the village, passing sledge dogs, drying seal and musk ox skins, and catching a glimpse of daily life in this remote Arctic community.
Day 10: Hurry Inlet's wild landscapes
The morning begins on the south coast of Jameson Land, near a peaceful lagoon beside Kap Stewart. Waders and geese gather here, preparing for their autumn migration, while musk oxen and collared lemmings eke out a living from the sparse tundra vegetation.
Venturing deeper into Hurry Inlet, explore the fjord’s upper reaches on foot, possibly along one of the rivers that flow into it.
Those up for a challenge might attempt the climb up J.P. Koch Fjeld near Hareelv. This area holds deep scientific significance – it's where fossils were found linking fish to early amphibians from the Lower Cretaceous period.
End the day anchored off Constable Pynt for the night.
Day 11: Disembarking at Constable Pynt
Wrapping up your trip of a lifetime, you’ll take a chartered plane from Constable Pynt back to Keflavik.
NOTE: This itinerary is for guidance only as each voyage will vary depending on ice and weather conditions, and opportunities to see wildlife. Flexibility is key and all part of the adventure of an expeditionary cruise.
