Five reasons to choose a combination cruise to Svalbard

  1. Who doesn’t love a 2-for-1? With a combination cruise, you get to tick off at least two different parts of the Arctic in a single trip. Unsurprisingly, they're very popular
  2. With each destination having its own particular characteristics, combination cruises mean you get to experience the Arctic's contrasting sides
  3. Typically 14+ days in length, a longer Svalbard cruise gives you a far more immersive and in-depth overall Arctic experience
  4. There’s a special sense of journey with these combination cruises, as they typically start and finish in different place. You can also explore two cities before and after the voyage
  5. You'll have an impressive choice of options to pick from. Most of these cruises combine Svalbard, Greenland and Iceland, but some also include the North Pole

For sheer breadth and eye-popping contrast, a Svalbard, East Greenland and Iceland combination cruise is VERY hard to beat, in my opinion.

When and how can I cruise to Svalbard?

Combination cruises including Svalbard, East Greenland and sometimes Iceland run during the Western Hemisphere's spring and summer months (May to early September), with a particularly wide selection of vessels and departure dates available throughout June, July and August.

Ships range from intimate options with a 12-guest capacity right up to spacious luxury vessels featuring a wealth of ultra-comfortable facilities.

Rarer North Pole voyages also often begin and end in Svalbard. These cruises have limited departures from July to September each year, so early booking is essential.
