Operator's Itinerary
Day 1: Embark on your ship in Reykjavík
Arrive in Iceland's capital, Reykjavik, a city shaped by ice, fire and creativity. Stroll the walkable streets, pop into galleries and cafes or visit landmarks like the Hallgrímskirkja Church with its striking bell tower. If time allows, soak in a geothermal pool or hike nearby volcanic landscapes. You'll embark on your ship today and start sailing towards your Arctic adventure.
Day 2: At sea en route to the Arctic
Settle into life at sea as you sail toward Greenland. Relax on deck, join a wildlife watch, or take in a lecture from the expert guides in your onboard expedition team.
Days 3 to 5: Scoresby Sund
Enter the world's largest fjord system: Scoresby Sund. Cruise glassy waters beneath towering cliffs and among drifting icebergs. Zodiac into secluded bays, explore on foot, and look for wildlife like musk oxen, arctic foxes, seals and polar bears. With luck, you might spot whales or the distinctive tusks of narwhals. Each twist in the fjord reveals a new geological marvel – some cliffs are black, layered and shrouded in ice, while others are jagged, pinnacled and reach jaw-dropping heights.
Day 6: Ittoqqortoormiit
Today, you'll visit one of Greenland's most remote communities. Wander among brightly coloured homes and learn how people thrive in this icy landscape. Browse the small museum and speak with locals about life this far north, where hunting remains central to the culture.
Days 7 to 10: Kaiser Franz Josef Fjord
Sail deep into Northeast Greenland National Park. Towering mountains, copper-hued cliffs and floating glacial ice create a wild, cinematic setting. Watch for wildlife like belugas and polar bears, and get closer to the scenery with hikes and zodiac cruises. Your expedition team might organise for you to embark on your complimentary kayaking session here, so you can paddle up close to astonishingly large chunks of ice birthed by terminating glaciers.
Days 11 to 13: King Oscar Fjord
Cruise through the vast King Oscar Fjord system, flanked by immense mountains and sculpted valleys. Keep an eye out for Arctic hares, foxes, musk oxen and seabirds. Each day brings new landings, new landscapes and new opportunities to explore Greenland's remote eastern coast.
Day 14: Isafjordur in Iceland
Return to Iceland and dock in the charming town of Isafjordur. Surrounded by steep mountains, the town is home to cafes, museums and a strong fishing heritage. Take time to hike nearby trails, or join an excursion to Vigur Island to see puffins and Arctic terns.
Day 15: Dynjandi Waterfalls
Visit one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls, Dynjandi. Cascading 330 ft (10 m) into the fjord below, it spreads like a bridal veil across the rocks. Walk up the path for different vantage points and to feel the thunderous spray up close.
Day 16: Disembark in Reykjavík, Iceland
Return to Iceland's capital for your final day. Enjoy a farewell stroll through the city or extend your adventure with more time in this enthralling nation.
NOTE: This itinerary is for guidance only as each voyage will vary depending on ice and weather conditions, and opportunities to see wildlife. Flexibility is key and all part of the adventure of an expeditionary cruise.
