Life before Swoop

I grew up in the small, rural American town of Newbury, Ohio, so most of my childhood was spent outside playing with my three siblings. This planted the seed for my love of the great outdoors, along with my parents taking us camping whenever the winter’s cold broke.

Fast forward a decade or so and I spent a year in Bremen, Germany, as part of my university degree. From there, I was fortunate to see various countries and cities in Europe. This ignited my passion for travel. After returning Stateside and graduating, I volunteered in AmeriCorps, which moved me to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. When I wasn’t working, I was travelling up north to camp on or near Lake Superior. 

Why I love travel

I love exploring because it’s when I feel most like myself. It allows me to combine all the things I enjoy most in life: the outdoors, meeting new people, learning about different cultures and trying different foods! I also love to combine travelling with my other hobbies – I just spent a little time in Costa Rica pursuing my other passion for teaching and learning about yoga, for example.

Day to day at Swoop

I’m a full-time Polar Customer Experience Coordinator at Swoop. My favourite part of the job is my amazing coworkers and getting to meet new people. My mission is to make each traveller feel confident, prepared and excited for their trip of a lifetime.

The outdoors and travelling will continue to be a big part of my life – even more so since joining the Swoop team!
